We are looking to recruit an Assitant Manager to take responsibility for receiving orders (on-hires) and requests for collection/ contract termination (off-hires) and planning transport for deliveries and collections liaising, where required, with other depot employees, customers, depots, workshops and sales teams along with ability to understand / assist the Depot Manager’s role
- Maximising the depot’s sales to a customer
- Efficient planning of routing of Driver deliveries/collections, where possible
- Understanding the key principles of the depot profit & loss statement and KPIs, together with factors affecting depot trading performance
- Reporting to Depot Manager on purchase requirements
- Receiving customer orders and requests for collection/contract termination
- Dealing with customer enquiries and orders in a professional manner
- Answering the telephone and dealing with customers at the hire desk
- Agreeing delivery times with the customer and keeping the customer (and other depot employees) informed of any problems when they arise
- Having an up-to-date knowledge of the company’s equipment for hire/ sale and the ability to demonstrate the safe use of equipment
- Assisting the Depot Manager in locating equipment at other depots
- Supporting the Depot Manager and managing depot when unavailable
- Checking that safety instructions and test certificates are included on all equipment that is on-hired and that test certificate nos. are inserted into all on-hire contracts
- Conduct visual inspections of equipment returning to the depot and process any damage costs to the customer
- Informing the Depot Manager of any possible shortages of equipment availability and recommending equipment purchases
- Assisting in the completion of asset and stock counts when requested
- Completing stock transfers
- Obtaining credit information and references before hiring to any new customer
- Accurate completion of all paperwork and IT inputs
- Supporting the depot team including sales
- Supporting the Depot Manager in leading and contributing to the regular review of the depot’s procedures to improve customer service, performance and productivity
- Clear understanding of security alarms and responsibility for all security processes
- Assisting the Depot Manager to promote employee motivation and development
- Keeping the depot, and in particular the hire desk area, tidy at all times
- Wearing full uniform and PPE at all times
- Maintaining knowledge of the group’s equipment for hire/sale and activities
- Conducting additional ad hoc duties as may be required
- Following all company procedures and policies in company handbook
- Ensuring all relevant training has been attended
- Supporting and communicating effectively with the depot team
- Good knowledge of Speedy Hire equipment/ products
- Local area knowledge for the depot area served
- Customer service experience
- Understanding of depot profit and loss and key depot KPIs
