Engineer - Rail

Summary

An excellent opportunity has become available for a Mobile Fitter within the Rail Division who will provide overall responsibility for the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of rail specific hire equipment. You will ensure all work undertaken is safe and complies with Speedy, manufacturers and any applicable industry standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Completion of transfer sheets, test tickets and all associated inspection, repair and maintenance paperwork and input of maintenance information into the maintenance management database via the current PDA’s
  • Only inspecting, testing, maintaining and repairing that equipment for which you have been deemed competent
  • Work to the highest standard of Health and Safety
  • Wearing full uniform and PPE at all times
  • Repair, maintain and service a wide variety of Rail Plant and equipment to Speedy and Manufacturer’s specification
    • Identify and resolve problems quickly, engineer out repetitive breakdowns
    • Sourcing spare parts and consumables from approved suppliers
    • Fleeting of new hire fleet delivered to the depot
    • Assisting the Depot Manager/Foreman to support depot operations to provide customer assistance
    • Ensuring that all equipment is cleaned/painted so as to be presented to customers in accordance with Company standards
    • Delivery/Collection of equipment to and from site
    • Visit sites to test hire fleet equipment and customers own equipment
    • Dealing with enquiries in a professional and friendly manner and informing depots/Regional Teams of any problems when they arise
    • Assisting Drivers, when required, with safe loading, securing and unloading
    • Identifying any safety risks in the depot to the Depot Manager/ Foreman
    • Assisting in the completion depot asset and stock counts on a rolling and annual basis
    • Completing all administration documents and inputs to IT systems in a timely and accurate manner
    • Contributing to regular reviews led by the Depot Manager/ Foreman to improve the depot’s service levels, performance and productivity
    • Conducting additional ad hoc duties as may be required

·         Knowledge of Speedy Hire equipment/ products

·         Formal technical/ engineering background and qualifications

·         Full driving licence

5 years industry experience
