Payroll Specialist

Summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Specialist who will work as part of a team to  process the monthly payroll in line with HMRC guidelines and Speedy policy. You will have proven experience working in a faced paced environment in a role that requires excellent customer service skills and strong attention to detail.

Main Responsibilities

To respond to all people payment requests in a timely, efficient and effective manner such as:

Expenses

  • Setting up Concur & Midas accounts for employees to claim expenses
  • Administering the ‘Midas’ Fuel system
  • Dealing with  employee queries regarding fuel deductions

Payroll

  • Processing of monthly payroll in line with HMRC guidelines and Speedy policy
  • Checking of payroll transactions to ensure accuracy
  • Use Payroll knowledge to improve the working practices of people payments
  • Act on instruction received from the business where duly authorised
  • Provide information to the business giving due regard to data protection and authorisation levels
  • Act on instruction received from HMRC such a Tax Coding
  • Provide information to HMRC  and 3rd Party’s
  • Reconciliation of 3rd party payments
  • Manual Calculations of employees salaries
  • Maintain accurate P11D records

General

  • Verify overtime data and ensure correct authorisation levels
  • Uses knowledge to improve the working practices of the People Services Team
  • Provide support and advice to Employees and Management on all Payroll/Expenses related matters
  • Meet the criteria set out in the SLA’s as agreed with the business
  • Any other people related requests that fall within the remit of the People Services Team
Ideal Candidate

Essential

Must have proven experience within a payroll and/or expense administration role

  • Must be confident with excellent communication skills and able to communicate with people at all levels, including a good, clear telephone manner
  • Must have good verbal and numerical reasoning skills
  • Must be able to work in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Proven experience of working within a fast paced business environment and used to multi tasking
  • Must be organised and able to manage own time effectively
  • Proven administration / customer service experience
  • Good IT skills
  • Flexible and positive approach to work
  • Self motivated and a good team player
  • Adaptable to change in an effective and timely manner
  • Able to proactively contribute to people process improvements
  • RTI Procedures
  • Up to date with HMRC Legislation
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment

Desirable

  • Previous Speedy Payroll or Expense experience desirable but not essential
