Brian Glendinning, Driver- Edinburgh RSC+

Before joining Speedy, I had done various kinds of roles before eventually becoming a relief driver for a company. In that role, I worked early hours in the morning but was also on call to cover for others. The long hours and shift patterns became too much for my health and impacted my work life balance.

I knew some friends who worked for Speedy, they knew I was unhappy with the role I had at that time and so recommended a driving job at Speedy. I applied and here I am 10 years later, still happy and content in my job at Speedy.

The driver role at Speedy has been great for me. The hours suit me much more, they are fixed with no weekend work. Don't get me wrong, it is still hard work but the hours along with a great manager, area manager and lovely depot colleagues means it is worth it. Speedy treat their colleagues well, are fair and provide the right equipment and training - this keeps me loyal to Speedy which is why I have stayed for 10 years.

As well as completing the mandatory driver training, I have also been trained in Forklift driving which I enjoyed doing. I also support new drivers in the depot, and I am always encouraging others to progress as there are so many opportunities in Speedy to develop your career. As for me, lots of people have encouraged me to progress with my career and given me the opportunities to do so. I am really happy doing what I do and want to continue to be the best driver I can be for many more years.
