Based in our Haydock workshop as an apprentice Powered Access Engineer, you will be an important part of depot operations and a key player in keeping the workshop productive meaning equipment is always available for our customers to ensure their experience with us is positive and we continue to be the best hire company in the industry.

As an apprentice Powered Access Engineer at Speedy, you will take part in our structured three year training programme.  During this time you will be trained by our knowledgeable and experienced colleagues along with working with our specialist external provider.

Programme Overview:

During the three years you will study the new L3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineer Technician apprenticeship standard and complete the associated end point assessment (EPA) with our external training provider.

When you are not completing the formal qualifications above, you will be based in the Haydock workshop full time learning from our experienced engineers, following our internal powered access training framework and consolidating your skills ready to be signed off as a fully qualified Powered Access Engineer at the end of year 3.

Our structured training programme will not only develop your technical skills and abilities but also offer you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to become a well-rounded individual in order to progress your career in line with your own aspirations. 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for Apprentices who:

  • Are ambitious, driven and willing to learn and develop,
  • Are comfortable attending block learning placements at other sites in the country and learning both on the job and in a classroom/practical learning environment
  • Have a natural interest in machinery, mechanics and electrics
  • Are comfortable working at height
  • Can be team players
  • Adapt to a fast paced working environment
  • Show good communication skills

Please note that you must hold a Level 2/Grade 4 or equivalent or above in GCSE English and Maths to be considered for this apprenticeship.

This role will be a September 2021 start.
