A Software Engineer will play a key role in the development and implementation of new software, enhancing current systems, and supporting new and existing applications.

The principal objectives of the role are:

  • Diagnosing issues in bespoke software when reported by the service desk in a range of c# .net applications.
  • Refactoring and redeveloping problem areas of code to reduce support requirements.
  • Writing unit tests.
  • Ensure that code is of a high quality and meets coding standards.
  • Monitoring logs for issues that can be resolved without them being reported to the service desk.
  • Continuously improve the quality of any existing systems that you work on.

The duties and responsibilities of the role are:

  • Provide software development support.
  • Built tools to help app support diagnose problems in applications.
  • Code review the work of other developers in the team to ensure that coding standards are met and that the quality of code is to a high standard.
  • Unit testing of changes made to software.
  • Estimate the complexity of developments as part of an agile team.

You will be working within a cross functional agile team and will be protecting the team from variance in velocity by handling investigation and development needed in the support of applications. Taking on other responsibilities to ensure that the team maintains consistent code quality and reduces bugs.

  • .Net / .Net core / C# / SQL Server / Entity Framework 6 / ASP.net / Ajax / MVC / Visual Studio
  • RESTful API design and WCF
  • Front-end frameworks (React, jQuery, Vue, Bootstrap)
  • Version control (Git)
  • Design patterns
  • Peer code reviews
  • Appreciation of service excellence
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

Desirable

  • Automated testing (NUnit / xUnit / Specflow / Selenium)
  • Microsoft Certification
  • Knowledge in working with ERP applications
  • Awareness of agile development methodologies
  • Mobile application development and delivery
