How to Use a Carpet Cleaner

Whether its kids running around the house, family pets or accidental spills, our carpets can take a beating, but you can bring them back to life with this carpet cleaner which can be hired from Speedy, the UK’s number one hire company.

A couple of good things to remember when hiring from Speedy, all our hire equipment is checked, tested, cleaned, and serviced before every hire and will come ready to go. You’ll also notice a folder attached to your hire product, these are the safety and operating instructions, please make sure you read these before you begin your job.

To set the carpet cleaner up you will need to take the hose provided and attach the ends to the front of the machine. The smaller hose with the yellow head will need to be pushed onto the push fit connector, this provides the head with clean water. The larger hose will need to be inserted above it; this is for the dirty water. This process will need to be repeated for the other end of the hose that connects to the handle on the cleaning pole.

This switch operates the vacuum function, designed to lift dirty water from the carpet, and this switch will activate the pump, designed to push the clean water and cleaning solution out of the head.

On the carpet cleaner you will notice that there’s two separate containers. The container without a lid at the back is where you will need to put the clean water and carpet cleaning solution. Which can be purchased from Speedy.

The container at the front is where the dirty water will go. The handle can be adjusted to a more comfortable position by un-screwing the yellow lock counter-clockwise and then extending the pole to the desired length before finally tightening it back up.

Any mains powered equipment that you hire from Speedy can come with one of three different plug a UK standard domestic plug that can be plugged directly into any household socket. A yellow 110v plug that will require a transformer or a blue 240v plug that will require an RCD unit, but don’t worry whatever you require your Speedy Service Centre will provide you with everything you need to power up your equipment and no matter the shape or size of your transformer or RCD plugging it in is exactly the same, simply lift the flap and push in the plug.

When the carpet cleaner is full of dirty water it will automatically shut off, indicating that the container can be emptied, you can do this by simply removing the transparent lid, lifting out the waste bucket and tipping it down the sink. You should never use this machine without the waste bucket in position.

When you have finished with the carpet cleaner it’s really important that you do not attempt to tip any remaining clean water out, instead you should use the end of the hose to suck out any remaining water into the waste bucket, where it can be tipped with ease down the drain.

If you have any issues with any of the products you hire from Speedy, just give your local Service Centre a call, as we are always happy to help, and remember to always check the safety guidance before you use any hire product.
