Eight great players are looking forward to a darting date with destiny after making their move in the Speedy Services UK Open.

Phil Taylor will be the name on everyone’s lips at the big Sunday showdown, but seven other players will be doing everything in their power to lift the heaviest ‘major’ trophy on the circuit.

The best of day three was saved ‘til last when Wes Newton showed all of his ‘warrior’ qualities to battle past Kim Huybrechts, winning 9-8 on double five.

That didn’t tell half the story though, as the Belgium hit seven out of seven doubles to assume control, only to miss six darts to win the game – the last on double one.

Dave Chisnall might be feeling the most confident of the lot after turning in one of the performances of the night to beat Simon Whitlock with a 100 plus average, while the tashless Terry Jenkins will also be worth an outside bet after beating Michael van Gerwen 9-7, showing signs of his very best form.
