A former football manager will be kicking off the opening of a new 27,000sq ft Speedy superstore in Manchester, which has created four new jobs and houses more than £1.5 million worth of equipment for hire.

Joe Royle, who managed Manchester City from 1998 to 2001 achieving two consecutive promotions, will unveil the new Downing Street superstore in Ardwick on Tuesday 15th May. The event will showcase the full product offering from Speedy, including tools and access, lifting, survey and safety equipment.

Speedy depot manager, John Ashton, said: “It is fantastic that we have an iconic Manchester figure to officially open our new superstore.

“The opening is the culmination of a great deal of planning and investment, and we are delighted to be strengthening our presence in the city. A further five positions will be created at the new superstore in the foreseeable future, in additional to the four already provided.”

Visitors to the new superstore will be treated to complimentary food and refreshments and could stand the chance of scooping exclusive darts tickets, in a competition to win a pair of tickets to the final of the Speedy Services UK Open.

The new-look superstore is the first of its type to be built by Speedy in 2012 and will be replicated at eight other sites across the UK during the course of the year.
