A Borden junior football team has received a boost just in time for the new season kick off, with the donation of a brand new kit from Speedy.

Players from the under 13 boys team at Wey Valley Football Club were presented with the Speedy branded kit at a pre-season friendly game of ‘Bubble Football’ (football while wrapped in giant inflatable bubbles) at Mill Chase Astro Turf on Saturday 30th August 2014.

The squad has been equipped with 16 football kits, training hoodies and footballs, thanks to Speedy, which has 15 depots located throughout Hampshire.

The support has been welcomed by Wey Valley FC, which is run by volunteers who fundraise throughout the year and rely on donations to keep the club going.

Wey Valley’s Football Manager, Josh Chandler, expressed his thanks: “This is a really exciting time for us. Grass roots football needs local community support at all levels and we’re really delighted to have such a high-profile company on board.

“We came second last season in the North East Hampshire Youth League Division Two and following last year’s performance, we’re hoping for another great season. Now that we have the support from Speedy, we’re hoping to top the league table.”

Mark Rogerson, MBE, Chief Executive Officer at Speedy, said: “Wey Valley FC does a wonderful job with so many youngsters, giving them a chance to exercise, learn new skills and work as a team. We wish them every success and look forward to some great performances this year.”

Formally known as Alexandra Colts FC which was founded in 1960, the football club changed its name to Wey Valley in 1996. There are 16 U-13 players in the team, who train once a week. For further information visit www.wvyfc.org.
