The North West’s energy sector has seen the largest growth in employment in the UK, with an increase of 46 per cent since 2008. Energy is a key industry for the region, with offshore wind production, nuclear power, renewables, biomass production, as well as the gas and electricity network providers, all contributing hugely to the region’s economy.
Date: Fri 28th June, 2013, 07.30-09.00
Venue: Radisson Blu, 107 Old Hall St, Liverpool, L3 9BD
However, the industry is not without its pressures – consumer prices, regulation, technology, fracking and the continuing debate over nuclear power are all challenges that the industry faces in the North West.
Insider is working with the Energy Innovation Centre on a series of energy breakfast events around the UK, and I am pleased to invite you to attend the Powering Prosperity debate in Liverpool on 28th June 2013.
The event is an opportunity to highlight the innovation in the energy sector; to engage relevant suppliers to the network provider in each region; and to promote better co-operation between the various businesses in the sector and the grid and network operators.
An expert panel will discuss challenges and opportunities that the industry faces the barriers to progress, the gaps in technology that exist and consequently where the big opportunities will arise for companies not only in Liverpool but across the North West.
Confirmed speakers:
Mark Buchanan, commercial director, Eco-Environments
David Furlong, director, Mole Group
Denise Massey, managing director, Energy Innovation Centre
Jonathan Akers, head of consultancy, British Independent Utilities
David Young, operations director, Green Electrician Group
Mark Knowles, head of low carbon economy, Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership
Nigel Jakeman, managing director, Gendrive Ltd
Paul Brown, connections director, Scottish Power
David Hilton, managing director, Vickers Energy Group
A senior representative from Scottish Power, the region’s energy network operator, will make the opening remarks and take part in a Q&A session.
