How to Use a Paddle Mixer - Correctly and Safely

Before you use a paddle mixer it's really important that you wear the correct PPE. Gloves and eye protection are essential when operating tools and any PPE you do require can be purchased from Speedy.

Any mains powered equipment that you hire from Speedy can come with one of three different plugs:

• a UK standard domestic plug that can be plugged into any household socket
• a yellow 110v plug that will require a transformer
• or a blue 240v plug that will require an RCD unit

Step 1:

When you collect or take delivery of your paddle mixer, it will arrive with the paddle already attached. All paddle mixers have multiple speed settings and two or more gears.

Step 2:

The speed can be adjusted by turning the wheel on the paddle mixer forwards for faster and backwards for slower. Always start at a slower speed and work your way up to the desired speed setting, as too fast could fling the contents of your bucket across the room.

Step 3:

If what you are mixing is really thick, then you can move up a gear from low to high. This will provide the paddle mixer with much better traction.

Step 4:

When you're ready to use the paddle mixer, always ensure you are holding both handles with a firm grip. Squeezing the trigger on the paddle mixer will start the product. Above the trigger is usually a small lock button; pushing this in will keep the power on meaning you can release the trigger allowing mixing for longer periods of time to be more comfortable.

Step 5:

A good tip for when you have finished with the mixer is to clean the paddle after each use by simply rotating it in a bucket of clean water. This will prevent any mixture drying hard to the paddle and damaging it.
