Speedy’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility has been recognised by a ‘Big Tick’ from the charity Business in the Community in its Responsible Business Awards 2013.
Speedy came out on top in the Marketplace Sustainability Leadership category for the North West region for its One Plan programme and has been shortlisted as a finalist for the national awards which will be announced in July.
Welcoming the news, Speedy’s Head of One Plan, Shelley Kemp, said:
“We see this as another endorsement of the approach that has recently gained us a Platinum ranking in Business in the Community’s Corporate Responsibility Index (CR Index). We have to thank the combined efforts of everyone in the company for our growing success in this direction.”
Acknowledged as the UK’s longest-running and most respected corporate responsibility accolades, the Responsible Business Awards champion the UK’s best examples of businesses making a positive difference and genuinely tackling key social and environmental issues through corporate responsibility programmes.
The Marketplace Sustainability Leadership category specifically recognises businesses that are transforming their product and service offers, supply chains and marketing by embedding short and long-term environmental, social and economic trends into core business decision-making.
Speedy’s Big Tick Award was announced on 12th June in a special Financial Times supplement and will be presented at a gala dinner on 13th June at the Monastery in Gorton. Speedy will also be attending a dinner at the Royal Albert Hall on 2nd July at which the national award winners will be revealed.
Commenting on behalf of Business in the Community, Chief Executive Stephen Howard said: “The Responsible Business Awards shine the spotlight on an aspect of business that very rarely gets much public recognition – and that is its ability and willingness to truly transform lives, communities and society for the better.
“I congratulate Speedy for its Big Tick today, which recognises that it is part of a movement of companies creating value by living their values. We hope their example will inspire many more businesses to put responsible behaviour at the heart of how they do business.”
