Speedy Shield Terms and Conditions
Speedy Shield (Original Terms)
Speedy Shield is our damage waiver product and where purchased provides the waiver of an initial damage value as set out below. The waiver operates as a variation to our Standard Terms and Conditions which will mean that whilst you still remain responsible for our Equipment during the period of hire, depending on the cover chosen, an initial amount of any damage to our Equipment will be waived by Speedy. Speedy Shield will apply to all eligible Equipment detailed below. You will still have to pay any balance over the damage waiver value. The damage waiver is not an insurance policy and operates subject to the limitations and conditions below. Please read these carefully.
Limitations and Conditions
Speedy Shield Red, Silver and Gold damage waiver products apply to such Equipment available for hire from Speedy as is notified to you at the point of selection of the waiver product and charged by us, from time to time. The charges and level of waiver are as detailed below:

- If you are a cash customer then Gold Shield above will be automatically charged and will apply
General Conditions
1. No waiver will apply where:
- you fail to take all reasonable steps to protect the Equipment hired to you and prevent accidental damage and ensure the Equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with the instructions;
- the Equipment is used other than for the specific purpose for which it is intended;
- damage is caused by wilful or malicious behaviour;
- the Equipment is lost or stolen or you fail to return the Equipment or allow Speedy to collect and inspect it;
- you fail to report any damage to the Speedy hiring depot as soon as possible and within 2 working days of the damage occurring or fail to continue to protect the damaged Equipment following notification;
- the Equipment has been lent, rehired or made available for use by you to any third party;
- you have a credit account with Speedy and you did not pay for the relevant Speedy Shield product on the due date or your account is in arrears when you notify us of the damage;
- the damage is caused by chemical spills, paint, concrete, masonry (or similar) spillage or overspray.
2. Where you have chosen a Shield product it will apply to your account with Speedy, and the relevant Shield product and cover will apply to all eligible Equipment hired by you until you give notice the Shield product is no longer required. Notice of cancellation may only be given after all Equipment on hire is returned to Speedy.
3. The waiver is not insurance and does not provide any compensation for loss or damage caused to your or any third party property and / or to any person or person(s)
4. Speedy reserves the right to decline any request to purchase a waiver product at any time
5. These terms are subject to change and withdrawal at any time (on written notice)
Speedy Shield Platinum
You can extend the level of waiver within Speedy Shield Red Silver and Gold and include a waiver for loss or theft of certain Equipment by purchasing Speedy Platinum Shield. This is available for Equipment within Speedy’s Self Powered Mobile Elevating Work Platform fleet only. The loss and damage waiver is not an insurance policy and operates subject to the limitations and conditions below. Please read these carefully.

General Conditions
The General Conditions set above applying to Speedy Red Silver and Gold Shield also apply to Platinum Shield with the exception of the exclusion of the waiver for loss or theft of the Equipment (where you will be responsible for the first £1,000 of the value of the Equipment in the event of a total loss or theft). Speedy Platinum Shield is subject to the additional conditions below:
- No waiver will apply where:
- the Equipment has been operated other than by competent qualified individuals;
- the damage or loss is caused by exposure to flood water;
- the damage or loss relates to batteries, tyres, lights, control boxes or wiring of the Equipment;
- the damage or loss was caused during transit other than where effected by Speedy;
- Equipment has not been kept in a locked compound when not in use with any keys kept in a separate location to the Equipment;
- you have taken the Equipment outside the United Kingdom;
- any theft has not been reported to the police immediately on discovery and a crime reference number provided to Speedy within 2 working days of discovery of the theft;
- the Equipment is stolen by you, your employees, sub-contractors or those you are responsible for;
- any loss or damage is increased by reason of fraud or dishonesty of you, your employees, sub-contractors or those you are responsible for;
- the damage or loss is caused by reason of acts of terrorism, war, explosion or radiation.
Retail Gold Shield Plus
You can extend the level of waiver within Speedy Gold Shield and include a waiver for loss or theft of eligible Equipment by purchasing Speedy Retail Gold Shield Plus. Eligible Equipment will be 0.8 tonne excavators, 1 tonne dumpers and 1.5 tonne excavators only (“Excavators”).The loss and damage waiver is not an insurance policy and operates subject to the limitations and conditions below. Please read these carefully.

General Conditions
The General Conditions set above applying to Speedy Gold Shield apply to Retail Gold Plus with the exception of the exclusion of the waiver for loss or theft of the Excavators (where you will be responsible for the first £750 of the value of the Excavators in the event of a total loss or theft). Retail Gold Plus is subject to the additional conditions below:
- No waiver will apply where:
- the damage or loss is caused by exposure to flood water;
- the damage or loss relates to batteries, tyres, lights, control boxes or wiring of the Equipment;
- the damage or loss was caused during transit other than where effected by Speedy;
- the Excavator have not been kept locked when not in use with any keys kept separate to the Excavator;
- you have taken the Excavator outside the United Kingdom;
- any theft has not been reported to the police immediately on discovery and a crime reference number provided to Speedy within 2 working days of discovery of the theft;
- any loss or damage is increased by reason of fraud or dishonesty of you, your employees, sub-contractors or those you are responsible for.
Speedy Shield (New Terms)
Speedy Shield - Damage Waiver is our damage waiver product and where purchased provides the waiver of an initial damage value of £500 as set out below. The waiver operates as a variation to our Standard Terms and Conditions which will mean that whilst you still remain responsible for our Equipment during the period of hire, the initial £500 of any accidental damage to our Equipment will be waived by Speedy. Speedy Shield – Damage Waiver will apply to all eligible Equipment detailed below. You will still have to pay any balance over the damage waiver value. The damage waiver is not an insurance policy and operates subject to the limitations and conditions below. Please read these carefully.
Limitations and Conditions
Speedy Shield - Damage Waiver applies to such Equipment available for hire from Speedy as is notified to you at the point of selection of the waiver product and charged by us and charged at an additional 10% of the relevant hire charge (plus VAT).:

General Conditions

2.
