Grant Weits, Apprentice Engineer

I joined Speedy as an Apprentice Engineer in September 2020 working out of an NSC (National Support Centre).

So far in my role, I have completed all of my Speedy mandatory training and I am currently working in the mechanical section of the NSC learning from my experienced mentor. I have signed up to my apprenticeship which is a Level 2 Land Based Service Engineer and have begun attending college each month learning both the practical and academic parts of it which I apply in the NSC in my day to day job.

For me, being an Apprentice Engineer is something that is not just a job, it is a career in which I will be able to develop many skills from and will allow me to create a future where I am doing something good with my life.

In 10 years' time I like to see myself being able to work on a wide range of products and be able to pass on my knowledge and experience that I have gained during this journey to someone else.

I would have to say that the best things about Speedy are the atmosphere and the people. Everyone I have met so far is extremely friendly and the brilliant atmosphere means I feel at home and I belong.
