Shilaya Weekes, Hire Controller

I joined Speedy as an Apprentice Hire Controller in July 2021 at the Manchester RSC+.

I was nervous starting at Speedy, considering I am the youngest in the depot and also having absolutely no knowledge of this type of industry. I thought it would take me a while to settle in, however, everyone has been super friendly and made me feel at home from the day I started. I've learnt so much in these past four months thanks to the help of my mentor Rob Pollard and my other colleagues. Being an apprentice at Speedy is a great opportunity, not only is it a blessing to work with a profoundly experienced team but it also gives me challenges to improve every day. I'm looking forward to growing within the organisation, and learning new skills on the way.
