Robert Walker, Driver - Cardiff RSC

I joined Speedy as a Driver in September 2020. I was previously a Night Porter in a hotel but due to the pandemic I was made redundant. I was working two jobs and so out of the house for 14-15 hours a day, missing out on family time and becoming increasingly unhappy.

My father in law worked for Speedy at the Cardiff Regional Service Centre (RSC) as a Driver, and mentioned Speedy were hiring.

I applied for the role, went down to the SC to meet the team and was taken on for a trial period as a Driver. Over a year later I am still here!

I can say with honesty this is the best job I have ever had, and would highly recommend Speedy to others as a great place to work. Now I work Monday to Friday 07:30 - 17:00, with weekends and bank holidays off, meaning I have much more time with my family and a positive work life balance. I am now working in an environment which is supportive and understanding, with a great group of colleagues who I can chat to and have a laugh with. There is a great team spirit at Speedy and it makes days enjoyable.

I have completed all of the training for my role, but I have also been able to learn about Test and Run, so that I can help my colleagues during busy times. I will also soon be completing my Forklift Training, supported by my manager. It is great to be in such a supportive environment, I can see myself staying at Speedy for a long time and really developing a career here.
