FY23 Sustainability Performance Highlights

Following on from Dan Evans' year end announcement, we are delighted to share with you our FY23 Sustainability performance ahead of our new ESG strategy launch; The Decade to Deliver.

We are proud to be leading the way when it comes to sustainability and have celebrated some major wins over the year! These include replacing 1 million litres of diesel with HVO D+ sustainable fuels in our HGVs and tankers and introducing the largest EV fleet in hire to reduce our carbon emissions by c.20%.

We delivered £9.2 million in social value by employing apprentices and graduates and delivering skills and training courses, we also raised over £75,000 for over 80 charities including our four charity partners. This is fantastic, well done and thank you to everyone involved!

Net Zero by 2040!

Speedy is the first in UK Hire to commit and submit Science Based Net Zero Carbon Targets (SBTs), which is best practice in taking climate leadership action.

During the year we upgraded our original commitment of becoming a Net Zero business by 2050 in pledging to reach that goal by 2040: ten years ahead of the government's target! Accelerating our timeline means we can help our customers move with speed and confidence towards their goals.

Our commitment to Net Zero by 2040 has meant we are now rated by the Financial Times as a European Climate Leader 2023!

Coming soon - Decade to Deliver

The Decade to Deliver is our plan on how we are going to start a 'hire revolution' to make hire - and the services, solutions and equipment that make it all possible - even more sustainable that it already is. That means less carbon, less waste, more innovation and meeting the needs of people, communities and the planet. 

I am excited for our sustainability journey ahead as we continue to work together, as a Speedy family, to drive Velocity and our vision to 'inspire and innovate the future of hire'.
