Back in 2018 when I started as a General Assistant here at Speedy, I had no tool hire experience, no drivers license and had worked in countless jobs that had no real future.
I took my role seriously and wanted to do the best I could. I saw there were lots of opportunities available to me and I just needed to work hard and take advantage of what the company had to offer.
I started by organising and rearranging the warehouse, shop floor and yard to make it more functional and quickly became trained in how to carry out the maintenance and repair of tools and mechanical equipment. I did an intensive driving course and since then I have driven all around the country to complete every lifting course available. I also completed IPAF and Lloyds British courses, gained a forklift license and have recently completed an LEEA course.
I'm pleased to say that as a result of all the above I was promoted to Lifting Engineer earlier this year. I would like to say a big thank you to my Regional Director, Maria Willings, and to everyone at the Norwich depot who have supported me in my journey - it's a great place to work with a fantastic team of people!
